I've always been told I'm good at art, but I never really believed anyone. I've never been completely proud of my art or believed people when they compliment me on it until this year, which is a milestone for me. I don't like when people tell me what to do, so finally when I enrolled in advanced art 2 and AP art and was able to do what I wanted, I could do things that I would enjoy. Once I could follow my own rules, I started to like art a little bit more and started to become more confident in my ability to draw, paint, and create any sort of art.
However, even with the compliments from everyone, I don't really like doing art, and I am a perfectionist so I am never completely satisfied or proud with my art. Sometimes I like it, like when I'm inspired and I can actually focus to work on it. But when I'm not--which is the majority of the time-- arts a drag and I never want to finish anything.
Even though its not my favorite passing time, I still believe art is an important part of my and other peoples lives. Art is a way of expression, coping, venting, individuality, creativity and so much more. When I am actually working on my art , it's a great way for me to cope with everything going on in life. Life gets really hard sometimes, and the only way to vent without letting anyone know what is going on is through art. Every one of my art pieces all have meaning to them which is probably hard to figure out, and I like that about them. I have a love/hate relationship with art, but I'm glad I don't have to live without it, or cope by different ways like exercising or something.
